What happens at the end of my studies?
Congratulations! You’re joining a huge global community of alumni who have been right where you are.
You might be wondering what happens next when it comes to your University accounts, Library access and more.
Your IT account
Your IT account (including access to your @Leeds.ac.uk email, eduroam, library systems, Minerva, Microsoft365 and more) will stop working either:
- 60 days after your end date (undergraduates);
- 90 days after your end date (taught postgraduates); or
- 90 days after the date you appear on the pass list (research postgraduates)
You’ll get an email with the exact date. It’s a good idea to make sure that important emails and files from your University account are backed up somewhere. Keep an eye out for files or emails such as personal or academic references from your tutor, or documents from wellbeing or disability services. You can learn more about what happens to your accounts, how to register for graduation after your IT account has changed and how to ask for a refund for unused MyPrint credits in this helpful article on the IT website about leaving the University — what happens to your IT account.
You can also sign up for a personal Microsoft 365 account with some cloud storage for free.
Pebble Pad
You may lose access to your IT account, but you don’t lose access to everything completely.
You’ll still be able to access PebblePad after you graduate by creating an Alumni Personal Account. You’ll need to do this after you’ve completed all your university PebblePad work, but before you leave the University. We recommend setting a calendar notification to help you remember.
Accessing the library
You’ve already spent a good chunk of your university life in the library, and that doesn’t have to change after you graduate. As long as you’ve studied for no less than one year full-time at the University, you can still use the library for academic purposes.
You might be charged a fee if you want to borrow any of the books.
Careers
You can still find support for your future career after you graduate. MyCareer can still be accessed after you graduate so you can still book appointments, find vacancies and sign-up to employability events.
From the homepage, simply follow the ‘Graduate sign in and registration’ button to get started.
Looking to develop your skills and boost your employability? You can still access all our resources, including LinkedIn Learning, mock interview platform Shortlist.Me and our CV Checker. Contact the graduate support team for access.
Degree Certificates
You may have received your degree certificate already. If you haven’t, find out how and when you’ll receive your degree certificate and transcript, and if there’s anything you need to do next.
Check in with your school
Finally, it’s also worth asking around to see if the school has any suggestions or recommendations for what to keep and how when it comes to specialist areas of study.
You won’t be the first person they’ve helped to graduate so they may well have some useful tips!
