Leeds is a hub of LGBTQ+ spaces for you to explore. Spaces such as Flamingo’s Coffee House and the Bookish Type are much-loved by students, and for good reason! There are also so many more small or lesser-known venues that we think deserve a little spotlight from us. From skating, sports, arts, and finding LGBTQ+ friends, these venues have it all.

Leeds Comets: LGBTQ+ Social Netball

Looking to get active in a fun, friendly, and welcoming space? Leeds Comets is a social netball club that aims to reduce barriers for LGBTQ+ to get into sport.

Whether you’re a netball pro or you’ve never picked up a ball before, you’re more than welcome in this space for any one, any level, and any body.

Leeds Comets. Fun, friendly sessions for all levels of experience, esepcially trans folks and other LGBTQ+ folks who’ve felt excluded from sports settings.

LS-Ten: Marginalised Gender Skate Session

Eager to try skateboarding or looking for somewhere new to test your skills? Originally started by Rolling With the Girls, this inclusive skate session includes coaching, all the gear you need, and is welcome to any age and experience level. These sessions are specifically for marginalised genders, however, there are plenty more opportunities to try out the skatepark, including Happy Hours, Men’s mental health sessions, and even birthday parties!

I want to skate!

The Alphabet Collective

Looking for a new group of friends? Want to access a range of fun events and a weekly safe space? Meet the Alphabet Collective (AC), celebrating all forms of LGBTQ+ joy. The AC is a queer-led community group which aims to provide a welcoming and affirming environment for intersectional LGBTQIA+ communities. The space is open to any individuals in Leeds and the surrounding area aged 18–25 who identify as LGBTQIA+, including anyone who may be questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity.

I want to join the collective!

Leeds LGBT+ Community Consortium (LLCC)

Want to make new LGBTQ+ friends, learn a new skill, or support others in the community? Comprising various organisations and support networks, the Consortium works to address the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community. From open mics, to inclusive yoga and craft clubs, LLCC has something for everyone, at any age.

Leeds has so many more incredible LGBTQ+ venues, nights out, and groups on offer. The best way to find your new favourite venue is to keep tabs on Instagram, visit places like the Community Consortium, or chat with groups like the LUU LGBT+ society. I hope you have the best time exploring this incredible city!
