As a final-year Leeds student studying computer science, the digital resources and services on campus have played a significant role in studies. These materials have been extremely helpful in improving my educational experience making my studies and research easier.

My favourite tools on campus
The Linux computers in the labs have been my constant companions along my academic adventure. They have helped me finish a variety of coursework assignments in addition to supporting my research and study. This access to state-of-the-art technology is indicative of Leeds’ commitment to offering meaningful and effective learning opportunities.
My experience with digital resources and inclusive learning
Leeds exemplifies inclusivity through adept use of digital resources, ensuring all students, including those with impairments, thrive. One important instance is a deaf student in our class who really benefits from Mediasite’s lecture recordings. Transcripts are made available to students 24 hours following lectures, guaranteeing equitable access to material and facilitating a smooth transition between the dynamic educational content our lecturers give and the vast range of learning demands of our students.
Digital tools and successful communication
The university’s digital tools, like Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Minerva, are essential for my studies. They make communication with peers and teachers easy, help organise course materials, and ensure a smooth learning experience, especially in dynamic fields like computer science.
For maintaining academic integrity, Turnitin and Gradescope’s AI plagiarism detectors are our guardians. They’re crucial for fair evaluations, discourage cheating, and instil the integrity needed for the workplace.
Open-book exams
Leeds’s open-book exams have inspired us to craft clear, practical study guides. Personally, I use Microsoft OneNote for making mental maps and notes, proving immensely helpful during tests. This not only aids in editing but also enhances our ability to swiftly recall and retrieve information — a skill vital in the workplace. It’s a testament to how digital resources transform traditional study methods into cutting-edge learning approaches.

I believe future investments in digital resources will significantly benefit students. To create a more diverse, efficient, and engaging digital learning environment at Leeds, we need to enhance computer and device access, upgrade platforms and systems, provide specialised software, improve IT support, and enrich digital content. These enhancements will ensure upcoming students enjoy the enriching digital learning experience that has profoundly impacted my academic journey.
